Welcome!

The beginning of a new school year is so exciting...at least to me! Each new year brings with it a new opportunity to start fresh. Each of you can decide what you will make of the year. The decision is yours, and I hope that you each decide that your English class deserves your best efforts and best work.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (an author we will read later in the year) once said, "The secret in education lies in respecting the student." I believe this whole heartedly. This blog will be a place where ALL of your opinions are respected and valued. You will interact with your classmates, as well as with students in different classes. The primary rule to live by when posting to this blog is to be sure to respect the postings of other students. You are allowed and encouraged to disagree with others, but expressing your alternate opinions must be done in a way that is not demeaning in any way.
I so look forward to the conversations that will take place here. Again, welcome!

Ms. Schawe had a blog like this last year, and I believe it to be pretty helpful when it comes to assignments and other things. I express my opinions often, so you can expect comments on this blog. (:

I'm not exactly a fan of Blogs i find them pointless and boring. If you wanna make fun of someone do it to there face not over the internet like 11 year olds. In my opinion Blogs are pointless and can be the root of all evil...i watch to much comedy central.

Well, english is my worst subject, so it will probably get more attention from me then the other subjects. Spanish will probably be the thing I'm more focused on though. As for this blogging thing, I'm not sure if I like it. I hope that we don't get a bad grade if we forget to get on and leave a commont. But who knows, this might turn out to be a fun thing, if i remember to leave a comment. This is extra credit right, so I'm happy that I can get extra credit by commenting on this blog ^_^ ....... And another thing..... are we graded on these?
O_o OH NO!!! I'm not good at spelling!!!!!!!

this is the first class i have ever had that acually had a blog so this is new. this might be fun but some tiimes i might not have anything to say so it might take me while to get use to it. At least there are people in this class that i know so they can help me out if i need it. Also i hope that one book that we are going to read is not that hard or it will take me forever to read. Finally nobody better not laugh at me!!!

Last year Ms. Schawe had a blog as well. I never really had a chance to go and look at it though I wanted to all year. I just simply did not have enough time. Well, I did but you can ask any of my friends, I'm the worlds worst procrastinator. One thing that Ms. Schawe had was a blog that people could post creative writing to for extra credit. I never did do that though I wanted to. I love having people comment on my writing (negative comments and positive ones). I feel that it helps me to keep improving my writing.

One thing that I already love about the blog however is being able to see everybody else's comments. I love to know what view other people take on issues. Many people I've noticed are just too afraid of speaking their mind in front of other people. But when these people are in the comfort of their own homes they can say anything they want with confidence. I myself am one of those people. So I can't wait to see what all we do with this blog!!

I agree with Emerson. Without the respect, no one will gain anything. I enjoy blogging, so I am glad that we will get the chance to speak to each other, and you, about issues that cpncern us.
